Dragonspine
Weapon (Maul), Legendary (Requires Attunement by a Barbarian or Fighter)
Forged from the spine of a slain Red Dragon and reinforced with steel, Dragonspine emanates heat and power. Its draconic origin imbues it with fiery might, making it a fearsome weapon in the hands of a warrior.
Weapon Properties
- Damage: 2d6 bludgeoning + 1d6 fire damage.
- Weight: Heavy, Two-Handed.
- Special Ability: Flames of Fury
- Once per short rest, the wielder can unleash a cone of fire (15 feet) as part of an attack. Each creature in the cone must make a DC 16 Dexterity saving throw, taking 4d6 fire damage on a failed save or half as much on a success.
- Heat Aura:
- While wielding Dragonspine, the wielder is surrounded by an aura of warmth. Friendly creatures within 10 feet gain resistance to cold damage.
- Draconic Resilience:
- The wielder has advantage on saving throws against being frightened.
Flavor and Lore
- Appearance: Dragonspine features a massive vertebra from a Red Dragon at its core, encased in darkened steel. Runes carved into the bone glow faintly with red light, pulsing in rhythm with the wielder’s strikes.
- Origin: Claimed by Alcaster the Sentinel during a decisive battle against Agathania’s draconic armies, Dragonspine symbolizes the clan’s resilience and triumph over seemingly insurmountable odds.
- Quirk: When held, the weapon emits a low, resonant hum that grows louder in the presence of dragons or draconic creatures.
Attunement Effects
- The weapon bonds deeply with its wielder, enhancing their combat abilities.
- While attuned, the wielder gains:
- +2 to attack and damage rolls made with this weapon.
- Immunity to fire damage.
Dragonspine is a symbol of both victory and defiance, a legendary artifact that channels the fiery spirit of the dragon it was forged from.
