Insurance Letter

To Whom It May Concern,

In the event of my death, imprisonment, or political ruin, this letter is to be dispatched immediately and without delay to:

  • The Lord Regent of House Estellia
  • The King of the Iron Wrought Mountains
  • The Council of Seven, Cassius
  • The Editors of the Rodania Record
  • The Council of Wyrms, Diplomatic Office

This letter constitutes a formal accounting of the crimes committed by Lord Jareth Estellian, son of the Estellian Dynasty and Master of the Hunt, hereafter referred to as "the Heir." Through negligence, willful blindness, or active collusion, these acts have been hidden from public view to the disgrace of all who permitted them.

Documented Incidents:

  • Between the years 988 and 992, the Heir is personally implicated in the deaths of no fewer than eleven women, residents of Estellian protectorate towns. Witness testimony places the Heir at or near the scenes, often under the guise of "hunting expeditions." Each victim was found strangled, with signs of struggle and no attempt at concealment.

  • Among these deaths, three women of merchant families under House Estellia's direct protection were strangled: Jonrica Velm, Anya Selles, and Barta Claywrought. Families were paid off to ensure silence.

  • In the autumn of 991, the noble-born lady Serenna Valcour disappeared during a formal hunt hosted on Estellian lands. Her body was later recovered, showing clear signs of strangulation. Internal inquiries were halted by decree of Estellian authorities.

  • In the winter of 992, young Lady Hendra Bastion, second cousin to the Iron Wrought Ambassador, was found strangled near a frozen brook after traveling with the Heir. No independent investigation was permitted.

  • The body of Lady Mirelle Faewren, minor nobility from the Western Marches, was found strangled and discarded near the Verdant Crossroads.

Supporting Evidence:

  • Signed affidavits from three household servants.
  • Testimonies of two city guards coerced into silence.
  • Ledger records indicating payments authorized by senior Estellian officials to victims' families.
  • Personal correspondence seized from a former steward expressing "grave concerns" over the Heir's conduct.

Should these truths be brought into the light, they will irreparably stain the honor of House Estellia and all who shielded their favored son.

I issue this record not out of vengeance, but out of necessity. Should any harm come to me, let those who profited from silence find no refuge in it.
